StorageSync Law Enforcement Request Policy
Last updated: 4 November 2026
This page explains how Singhtech Pioneers Inc., which operates StorageSync, answers requests for user data from police, courts and other authorities.
What we can and can't provide
StorageSync is end-to-end encrypted. Files, file names, folder names, thumbnails and versions are encrypted on the user's devices with keys only the user holds. We can't decrypt them, and no order can make us produce content we can't read.
What we hold, and may be required to produce, is limited to what our Privacy Policy describes: for example the account's email address, sign-up date, plan and subscription status, devices, the sizes and timestamps of encrypted files, and short-lived request logs. We keep request logs for up to 30 days and don't store IP addresses in our own logs.
What we require
- Valid legal process. We disclose user data only in response to a valid order, warrant or other process that is binding on us under Canadian law, such as a production order issued by a Canadian court. We review each request and push back on requests that are unclear, too broad or not properly served.
- Requests from outside Canada must come through the channels Canadian law recognizes, such as a mutual legal assistance treaty (MLAT) request processed by Canadian authorities.
- Emergencies. If we believe in good faith that there is an imminent risk of death or serious physical harm, we may disclose the limited information needed to prevent it, as Canadian law allows. Such requests must explain the emergency.
- Child sexual abuse material. We report it as Canada's mandatory reporting law requires and preserve the related data for the period the law sets.
Telling the user
We tell the affected user about a request before disclosing their data, unless the law or a court order prohibits it, or telling them would put someone at risk. If a prohibition later ends, we tell the user then.
Transparency
We will publish, at least once a year, the number of legal requests we received and how many we complied with, in whole or in part. To date (4 November 2026) we have received none.
How to send a request
Send legal process to legal@storagesync.ca, or by post to Singhtech Pioneers Inc., 1576 Princeton Cres, Oakville, ON L6H 4H7, Canada. Include the issuing authority, the legal basis, the account email address or link concerned, and a contact for questions.
